Today, we turn our attention to the PacWest. The West has been wild of late. UC San Diego was briefly the king of the West, making three-straight trips to Cary; however, since they have jumped to DI, the West has been somewhat of a revolving door. The PacWest’s Point Loma is the only team to make it there twice in the years since, once in 2022 and again last year.
“The West is very competitive and, in my opinion, extremely underrated,” said Point Loma head coach Justin James. “To make a regional and represent the West in the [DII baseball championship] takes a lot to go right with the limited spots we're all competing for. I think hard work and having a solid system in place has allowed for consistency and continuing certain standards. Each year is vastly different, but a winning culture should always be the rock. Recruiting the right kid both on and off the field is crucial.”
