DII Report: Baseball fall report — The LSC
Does Angelo State have another run to Cary in the tank?
The DII Report fall reports are rolling. Last week, I kicked things off by taking a look at the home of the defending champion Tampa Spartans and the rest of the Sunshine State Conference. This week, we head to the grand state of Texas and the Lone Star Conference.
The Lone Star Conference, part of the South Central Region, has pretty much been Angelo State Country for quite some time. The Rams have made it to Cary for four-straight seasons, winning it all in 2023 and falling just short of a repeat last year, finishing as national runners-up. Per head coach Kevin Brooks, since 2020 the Rams and Tennessee are the only two NCAA programs with over 200 wins.
It’s hard not to think Angelo State is once again the favorite.
“Obviously it is very difficult to get to Cary and the run we have been on has been fun to watch,” Brooks recollected. “We have had really good teams which makes it a lot easier. I think there are a lot of reasons we’ve been able to have that success in the postseason.
