Welcome back to the DII sports season. While the newsletter went quiet in August (my annual mental health sabbatical), I am gearing up to get DII baseball fall reports going.
Speaking of fall reports, my DII baseball coverage caught the eye of the Internet Baseball Writers Association of America. The IBWAA is an answer to the strict by-laws of the BWAA that don’t permit solely digital writers to vote or promote content. The IBWAA was created by Los Angeles Dodgers beat writer Howard Cole and has a bevy of notable members like ESPN’s Jim Bowden and Jerry Crasnick. It has been around since 2009 and yours truly has been a member since 2013 when I switched careers to become a baseball writer. They work tirelessly to promote “the little guy,” which is the exact same intention of the DII Report.
All that is to say the DII Report is up for the first annual Content Creator Award in the category for prospect/amateur/college baseball writers. Best of all, voting is open to the public.
Please help me spread the word about the DII Report! Vote here or click the link below before Sept. 8 (Shameless plug: also consider voting for Grant McAuley for his Atlanta Braves coverage. I have known him for a long time and he has always been supportive of my DII coverage).
NMU vs MTU is the 9th most played rivalry…they’ve played 94 times since 1920. You left them off your most recent post from a few days ago.
